Tune-ups that catch the $40 problem before it's a $400 one
Most breakdowns we see in July and January started as something small and cheap months earlier. A seasonal tune-up finds those — and it keeps both your manufacturer warranty and our 5-year labor warranty doing their jobs.

Why the boring appointment saves the most money
Nobody gets excited about maintenance, and that's fine — its job is to be uneventful. A weakening capacitor reads badly on a meter months before it strands your AC on a 98-degree Saturday. A dirty flame sensor announces itself in October instead of failing during the first real cold snap. The tune-up is where those problems get caught at their cheapest.
Clean, tuned equipment also just runs better: coils shed heat the way they're designed to, airflow stays where the engineers set it, and your utility bill stops paying for grime.

Timed to Utah's seasons
Our climate runs equipment in sprints: furnaces grind through months of inversion-season cold, then air conditioners take over for a short, brutal summer. The spring visit wakes the AC up before the first heat wave — when every weak part in the valley fails at once and schedules fill up. The fall visit proves the furnace's safety chain and burners before the first hard freeze. Same idea both times: find it in the calm, not the rush.
Filters deserve their own sentence here. Salt Lake City's inversion winters and wildfire summers load filters faster than the national every-90-days advice assumes, so check monthly during bad-air stretches. Your lungs and your blower motor share an opinion on this.
The warranty connection most homeowners never hear about
Two warranties protect a new system: the manufacturer's parts coverage and the installer's labor coverage. Both expect the equipment to be professionally maintained — manufacturers can deny claims on neglected systems, and our free 5-year labor warranty requires an annual tune-up from our team to stay active. One scheduled visit a year keeps every layer of protection intact, which is the least dramatic money you'll ever save.

Maintenance & Tune-Ups questions
Straight answers
What does a Lucas tune-up actually include?
The real list: refrigerant performance check, electrical connections tightened and tested, capacitor and motor readings, condenser and evaporator coil inspection, condensate drain cleared, thermostat calibration, and on furnaces — burners, flame signal, gas pressure, safeties, and a visual heat exchanger inspection. You get told what we found, in plain English.
How often does my system need maintenance?
Twice a year for a home with both AC and a furnace: cooling checked in spring, heating in fall. Each visit catches the season's equipment before it runs hard for months. Heat pumps, which work year-round, want the same twice-a-year rhythm.
Does skipping maintenance really void warranties?
It can. Manufacturers expect documented professional maintenance, and our free 5-year labor warranty on installations requires an annual tune-up from our team to stay active. One flat-rate visit a year protects both — cheap insurance on the most expensive machine in your house.
What if you find a problem during the tune-up?
We show you — readings, photos if useful — and quote the repair separately before touching anything. The tune-up price is the tune-up price. You'll never get upsell theater from us; if the system's healthy, we say so and leave.
How often should I change my filter between visits?
Every two to three months for most homes, more often with pets or during inversion and fire season. It's the single cheapest thing you can do for your system — a choked filter strains the blower, ices coils, and trips furnace safeties. We'll show you the size and how to swap it.
Do you do tune-ups on brands you didn't install?
All makes and models, regardless of who installed them. A tune-up visit is also an honest way to get a second opinion on a system another company has been servicing.
